Disassembled Lustron home for sale in Tennessee

Sample Lustron home

Columbia, Tennessee 38401 Disassembled Lustron home for sale ~ $5,000

Basic description: I have a disassembled Lustron house that is for sale. It is about 85% complete because I used some parts to restore my Lustron and I no longer need the remaining parts. Please understand these are used building materials and will need cleaning up and perhaps some refurbishing.

MCS-safe features: Please note that I am not chemically sensitive myself. I want the house to go to someone who will not scrap it (the usual fate of many unfortunate Lustrons). The previous owner is unknown to me, I bought it from a preservationist who disassembled/stored it, so assume it was a non-MCS owner. I think the only way to really find out if it is tolerable for the MCS person is to clean it up and spend time exposed to the building materials to see if a negative reaction takes place.

Lustron Model: 02 Westchester Deluxe
Color: Dove Gray
Bedrooms: Two
Bathrooms: One
Date available: August 2012

Detailed description: The steel frame is complete and it would be a good start for someone who wanted to build in an ideal location. Specifically, the roof of this house is incomplete (a contemporary metal roof could be substituted). All of the gable ends are gone, the gutters are gone. Again though, contemporary metal fabrication can replace those provided the homeowner were comfortable with non Lustron adjustments. Also missing are perhaps 20% of the interior parts (I used them to restore my house). I believe that there are enough pieces to have the frame, exterior shell and most of the room divisions. The original Lustron Corp. building erection manual is available online, on disk and in hard copy through the Lustron Yahoo Group.

Photos: Some of my own photos are on the Lustron Yahoo Group’s photo page but they are identified only by my email address (bethdowney5@aol.com).

Current storage facility: The Lustron is in a storage trailer located in Columbia, TN 38401. I am sorry to say I do not know if the trailer it is being stored in is pesticide free. I have not smelled any in there but I have not had it tested. I can tell you it is completely dry because the dirt (soil) that is stuck to some of the pieces is powdery dry, therefore I can say with conviction that there is no mold. The trailer is a 48′ Great Dane trailer that can be pulled by a semi tractor. Two years ago I had the trailer repositioned by a local driver. He indicated it would be roadworthy with a few fixes, like the tail lights.

Price: Asking price is $5,000 ~ includes both the trailer and the disassembled Lustron pieces; hook it up and drive away. Does not include cost of re-assembly, cleaning, land, or any other fees associated with the re-assembly of this home on your own land.

Anyone interested in purchasing roof panels for a lustron home. Tree fell on the roof causing damage to the front part of the roof and we had to replace it.

Could not find any panels on line so had to replace the whole front roof.

Several of the panels are in great shape and I would hate to scrap them.

I have a Lustron Home, which I believe is the Westchester Deluxe model 02…it looks just like the one on this site, only the gray color is a little darker. The home is assembled and to my knowledge not missing any parts. This home is on a great lot with a separate garage in the back yard and fenced back yard. The home is close to a great elementary school and shopping centers and within a mile from Wellmont Hospital in Kingsport, TN.
We are wanting to sell the home as is with the lot or sell the home as is and moved from the lot. If anyone is interested, please contact me by email or phone 423-502-1323. Thank you.
